The Holy Nation of

Aeitia

The greater coat of arms of Aeitia

Welcomes You!

We are a proud, ancient, and tradition-rich nation in the heart of The Greater Avian Confederation.

Population: 3,824,668 feathered and fuzzy creatures of all makes.
Capital: Tybarne

Electricity, heat, and running water are not widely available throughout large parts of the country. If you are too accustomed to these amenities, poor traveler, make sure to bring your own batteries and water supply. You will find the nature serene and undisturbed like nowhere else in the world once you venture just a little outside of major cities. However, this is not a place for ordinary tourists.
While we officially drive on the right, we do in general not drive. Do not expect to be able to get anywhere by car, and in many places possessing means of flight will be expected.

Our Geography

Map

Here you see our beautiful geography. The resemblance to a bird's head, looking towards the east, is stunning. Surely it is no coincidence that when God created this patch of land as such, he intended avians to rule over it. In the southwest, you will find warm beaches, in the northeast, heavily forested woodland, in the northwest, frigid tundra, the southeast, fertile plains, and in the center, grueling desert.

The south is the most pleasant place for a traveler to go. It is also not recommended that you stay in Tybarne or Campus Aquila for too long, because there is simply nothing to do, and there are often military exercises there. Those cities very much exist to serve the court and military, Bustloro and the area north of it, or southern towns are more accomodating to travelers.

Our Cuisine

"Be generous with bread and water, but stingy with beer and wine."
-Aeitian Proverb

Two industries play the main role here. The one is traditional hunting and fishing, and the other is grain farming and breadbaking. Many different breads with and without fillings are served, and it is not uncommon to see entire buffets consisting solely of different types of bread. The buffet is the traditional serving method, and every dish, both savoury and sweet, cold and warm, is put on the table at the same time. Meat pies and bread with meat and vegetable fillings, and pancakes, dumplings and gruels are common, and our national dish is buttered waffles, but on the other hand, you never see rice or potatoes.

A lot of herbs are used, and dishes can taste strongly of caraway and garlic, but hot spices like chillies are unheard of. In the southwest, orange and lemon trees are grown, whose fresh fruits are often used as a condiment there, and their juices to add flavour to nearly any dish.

Since electricity is uncommon, all of a household's food for the day tends to be prepared over a fire during the early morning, then served and left on the table as a buffet for the entire day. Usually everything will be eaten after 4 PM, and the next meal not until the next morning. Bread is made by placing a small stone chest in the fire.

Sciuridans living in the far east have a different cuisine, wherein they consume large amounts of raw vegetables; this is not considered appropriate for formal occasions.

The Contract

Aeitia is not truly an independent state, but a client kingdom of a spacefaring state known as The Greatest Galactic Empire. In their worldview, true civilizations live in space, and anyone who lives on a planet are considered "natives". Therefore, they rule these planetary native states indirectly instead of settling on their planets, something that would be considered a disgrace for an Imperial noble. Each native kingdom is given a contract that they must fulfill, and overseers known as Galactic Appointees are settled in those kingdoms to make sure that the contract is consistently fulfilled, however, the terms of the contract varies greatly from kingdom to kingdom, depending on local circumstances, how important the planet in question is for The Empire, and how submissive the local rulers are. The Galactic Appointees come from the lowest social classes of The Empire, but on the planets to which they have been delegated, no one can lay their hands on them or punish them. They are not allowed to run businesses on the planets where they are settled and are encouraged to stay seperate from the locals. In general, this position is either seen as the lowest level of a social escalator before moving on to bigger and better things in the Imperial administration, or as a safe and comfortable position that can be managed with little effort, depending on the attitude of the holder.

In Aeitia's case, their contract is extremely generous and makes no demands regarding how the country is ruled or any of their internal affairs, as long as they satisfy the following points:

  • That they do not travel into space.
  • That they do not establish any relations with any kingdoms or states beyond their own planet except through the envoys of The Greatest Galactic Empire.
  • That they provide a list of sacrifices every year, which includes 99 young maidens for a special unit of the Imperial Army. When the list for one year is fulfilled, the one for the following year is then provided; it is not always the same from year to year.
  • That the Galactic Appointees residing on the planet are kept free from harm and punishment, are kept under no obligation to follow the local laws including the payment of any taxes, and are free to oversee any aspect of the local government that they please, and provided full access to any information neccessary to do so. However, they do not have the right to make any changes to it without first consulting higher powers.

It is not uncommon that repeated failures to comply with a contract leads to the complete destruction of the planet. The Empire has thousands to choose from and is always acquiring more.

Our Government

We aim for an inclusive and all-encompassing nation for all the many races living on our territory, united under Queen and Empress. We remain a staunchly loyal member state of both The Greater Avian Confederation, and The Greatest Galactic Empire, and a fully democratic constitutional monarchy. Government according to traditional catholic values is a cornerstone of Chancellor Dumont's policy.

The Congress has 77 members. Each region is assigned a certain number of congressmembers based on its population, though, Old Aeitia deliberately has one more than they should have, to prevent tied votes from occuring. They are assigned like this:

Canida: 16
Old Aeitia: 16
Super Wonderful Puppyland: 14
Sciurida: 9
Tybarne: 6
Desomjastyr: 4
Werdantenn-Gänsenwald: 4
Brotmühle: 3
Canelos: 3
Ariani: 2

Congress

Christian-Democratic Front (77)

The Quadragintana has 48 members. Each region appoints 4 members, and of the remaining 8, 2 are appointed by the King of Aeitia, 3 by the Emperor of The Greater Avian Confederation, and the final 3 by the Emperor of The Greatest Galactic Empire. Usually the same person holds the first two titles simultaneously. The appointees from The Greatest Galatic Empire are generally only meant to act as observers, but are free to report to the imperial authorities if something going on within the government of Aeitia should concern them. In recent times, they have shown great complacency and lack of discipline, however, and are often absent at meetings and aloof of the politics in The Kingdom in general, treating the position more like a vacation paid by The Empire. They do not mingle with the locals and spend most of their time on large fortified estates, living in great luxury.

None of the appointees may belong to a political party, otherwise the same ones as the Congress are represented.

Quadragintana

Christian-Democratic Front (40)

Royal Appointees (2)

Confederate Appointees (3)

Galactic Appointees (3)

The last election was held in 2021, and resulted in a landslide victory for the Dumontists, ending up with overwhelming power in both houses.

In November 2024, The Congress passes constitutional reforms abolishing most of the constitutional powers of The King and transferring them to The Congress and Chancellor. Soon after, Jean-Baptiste Dumont announced that all political parties were to merge into a single "Christian-Democratic Front". Members who refused to join in the merger were charged with "Acting Contrary to God's Law", "Denying God's Existence", and "Refusing to Contend with God on a Personal Level" and sent to a nunnery. Now the CDF is announcing that they will "Bring About The Kingdom of God", and are pursuing close cooperation with The Fatican, working towards eventually making The Burger Pope head of state. But how power will be shared among all these parties, they have not yet decided, nor what will happen to non-christians living in Aeitia as a whole. The Galactic Appointees were largely indifferent towards this sudden policy change, presumably because it changed nothing for them directly. They have not bothered to consult the rather distant Empress Spotsnout (who indirectly rules over thousands of solar systems and planets, many considered far more important than Aeitia) about it yet. Who really gives a hoot about what god the natives worship or who their chief is anyway, as long as they fulfill their contract?

Christian-Democratic Front

Christian-Democratic Union

This faction is christian-democratic and emphasises government according to catholic principles, the restoration of traditional catholic values, and universal healthcare. It were founded based on visions from God experienced by its leader, Jean-Baptiste Dumont. Before his conversion to christianity and subsequent rise to power, it was an uncommon and obscure religion in Aeitia. Dumont's visions and charismatic preaching of the new religion made many nobles and members of the elite convert and become his devout followers.

After his election to chancellor, many reforms aimed at improving equality and social justice commenced, which also made him fairly popular with the common people, however, an aggressive campaign to promote his teachings and "root out deniers of God" was also started. For now, this campaign is mostly an endless source of jokes and amusement.

Leader: Jean-Baptiste Dumont

All hail Empress Spotsnout!
All hail Queen Iza!
All hail our noble leader, Jean-Baptiste Dumont!

Our National Flag and Its Symbolism

Our National Flag

The white eagle represents our royal house and its strength and power. The burning lily represents passion for our homeland, and the passion of Christ. Sometimes instead of a flame the lily is depicted with three baubles arranged in a triangle above it, which symbolizes a merciful trinitarian God. They are white on black to represent our nation as a bright spot of light surrounded by dark and hostile forces.

Regions

Brotmühle

Brotmühle is a small and peaceful agricultural region in the far south. Plenty of wheat, oats and other grains are grown and milled there, and the wheather tends to be very warm and sunny. The beaches, coastline and natural landscapes are stunningly beautiful. However, it remains a relatively poor and underdeveloped area.

Capital: Brotmühle
Reynardine Fuchsfein is Baron of Brotmühle.

Old Aeitia

Old Aeitia is the nest and breeding ground of our nation; it is damp, cold, heavily forested, and very mountainous. It is not an area visited often by foreigners, and the inhabitants' attitudes can be traditional and conservative. The largest remaining griffon population is also here, otherwise they have been spread very thinly all across the country over time. It is not very industrialized, and a large part of the population still live according to the herd and nest system and support themselves as traditional hunters here, but the region is also home to one of our main military bases, which is the main driver of some fledgling industrialization.

Capital: Campus Aquila
Chiffer is Viceroy.

Super Wonderful Puppyland

Super Wonderful Puppyland was liberated from anarchy and cartel rule without resistance in 2017, and since then the region has been thriving. The landscape is as diverse as the population, which are very friendly, and there are lots of sights to see. Economically, it is one of the strongest and most highly developed regions in the country, not dissimilar to some of the richer nations to the south, and by the southern coast you will find many bustling markets and fairs. Even a high-tech industry and serious urbanization is beginning here. Central Super Wonderful Puppyland mostly consists of barren desert, however, except a few oasis towns like the city of Bustloro.

Capital: Bustloro
Bitten von Krumpen is Vicereine.

Werdantenn

Werdantenn-Gänsenwald is a small duchy that was inherited by the Aeitian king. It is heavily forested and one of the regions with a notable human population. It is poor and underdeveloped, and very cold and humid, similar conditions to Old Aeitia, which it borders to the west.

Capital: Gänsenwald
Beatrice Richter is Governor-General.

Canida

Canida is a far northwestern region which we liberated from capitalist dictatorship in 2015 and which has since become the economical and administrative centre of the kingdom. Compared to the rest of the country, Canida is urbanized and modern, there are large cities, and you can get around by car, train or airplane. The largest human population is found here, but there are many canines living here too, after which the region may have been named. The wheather is however cold, awful, and very rainy for most of the year. But during winter the region is covered in snow and ice.

Capital: Canida City
Frances Topp is Governor-General.

Tybarne

Tybarne is a far western coastly region that traditionally depended on hunting, fishing, and seaborne trade. In 2017 it was chosen as the new site of the Royal Court and Congress, who moved from the underdeveloped and poorly accessible Campus Aquila to a place much easier to reach for the outside world. Since then the needs of the Court has played a significant part in stimulating activity in the region, however, its traditional population are not at all avians, and therefore both the safety and appropriateness of such a move has often been called into question. The wheather is similar to Canida's, however it is notably milder, and there is much lush green forest and nice, clean beaches.

Capital: Tybarne

Desomjastyr

Desomjastyr is a small petty kingdom east of Werdantenn that was likewise inherited by the Aeitian king. It is one of the wealthiest regions in eastern Aeitia, but also one of the least visited regions in the entire country. The pace of life here is very slow, and postponing things for as long as possible is considered a virtue; maybe that has something to do with it. The landscape is mountainous but wet, with large, deep lakes and rivers, almost swampy. Our leader Jean-Baptiste Dumont was born here.

Capital: Padas
Ducard Pappardellano is Governor-General.

Ariani

Ariani is a small, backwoods region north of Old Aeitia, probably the most remote and least accessible part of the kingdom on a whole, but thankfully, it is also one of the least interesting. Most of the population are avians and live strictly as traditional hunters, and there are no roads and very few cities, most still follow the herd and nest system, as in Old Aeitia, but even more so. Cold, barren terrain with occasional pine forests make up the landscape. It would be a great place for you to go if you are a religious hermit who desires absolute solitude, but otherwise not.

Capital: Ariani
Ali Khan is Viceroy.

Canelos

Canelos is a small southern coastal region to the west of Brotmühle, it is known for its beautiful beaches, plantation industry, and basil-based cuisine, wherein basil is not just considered an herb but also the main vegetable. The wheather is warm and dry, but with sufficient irrigation the soil is very fertile. The people do not appreciate mindless chatter.

Capital: Canelos

Sciurida

Sciurida was liberated from tribalism and military dictatorship in 2018 and constitutes our newest region. Its inhabitants have a radically different culture and are not yet fully appreciative of our overlordship, but we are sure they'll see the light in due time. The region is covered in dense forests and has character of an unkept jungle, where you can very easily get lost. The few settlements that there are tend to be small forest camps made of loghouses. Only a few larger cities exist, and they are still entirely built out of wood, often very ornately crafted. The eastern coast is barren, rocky, and cold, with no great prospects for fishing either.

Capital: Obnorsk
Roderic Eichstätt is Governor-General.

Baron = Retains the title for life.
Viceroy = Appointed by the King at his pleasure.
Governor-General = Elected by the people for 6 years.
